In the upcoming year, I have decided to attempt to enter more 'challenges'....I guess you could it a resolution, although I typically don't make New Year's Resolutions, for fear that I won't follow through with them. So, I guess we'll see how I do!!
For my first challenge of the year, I discovered a blog called Flaunt it Fridays. This week's challenge was to use the Hello Kitty in the airplane on page 65 of the handbook. This is what I came up with, and with only 2 hours or so remaining to link it up, I'm made the deadline for the challenge, just by the skin of my teeth!!
Ingredients:
Hello Kitty Greetings Cricut Cartridge
Stampin' UP! Cardstock
DCWV Patterned Paper (from a random stack at least 5 years old!)
Queen and Co. Adhesive Rhinestones in Snowflake and Grass Green
Tiny Mosaic and D'vine Swirls Cuttlebug embossing folders
Yellow Stickles
Pebbles, Inc. Basic Brights Chalk
Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen
Sakura Black Glaze Embossing Pen for the handwritten sentiment
Hope you like it!! Thanks for checking out my first challenge of 2011!!

I have a friend's baby shower to go to tomorrow....so I took out my new Gypsy and started creating! My hubby had recently bought me the Cricut Lite "Sugar and Spice" and the first cartridge I ever bought was "New Arrival" as I was preggo myself in 2007, when I got my first baby bug!! I combined these 2 cartridges with the "welcome" sentiment from Cindy Loo, shapes from Accent Essentials and Mini Monograms, and VOILA! A beautiful baby card!!

MPS Design Team Submission and 1st Layout EVER!!!
So, one of my favorite crafty women, Robyn aka "My Pink Stamper" is having another Design Team call for 2011!!! WooHoo! I visit Robyn daily, and I would LOVE to be a part of her team! The challenge that she put forward was as follows:
Challenge: Make a card, scrapbook page, or other Cricut project with your favorite cartridge (Simply Charmed is my current fave...) using Robyn's favorite colors......
Pink
Green
Brown
(other optional color of your choice) I used YELLOW.
The Requirements for her Design Team are:
*You will need to have a blog
*You cannot already be serving on a DT that has product that is a conflict of interest (most DTs are just fine as long as they do not sell product that is similar to My Pink Stamper Original Cricut Stamps idea)
*Your project must be made just for this challenge
*Post a pic on your blog with a full recipe along with what the challenge is about
*This needs to be a new project that you make just for this challenge
*Only one entry per person, please
*You must have either a Cricut or Imagine to serve on the team
*No experience necessary but you must have a love for the craft! :)
And, since I fit ALL the requirements (wink, wink!), I have racked my brain to come up with something....something that would set me apart from the oh-so-many people that follow Robyn and would likely be submitting a project as well. She only has 2 spots to fill, and as I look over at her blog today, there are over 150 submissions already!! For the last couple of days, I have been playing with my new Gypsy that my wonderful husband surprised me with on Christmas, trying to come up with something that would hopefully knock Robyn's socks off!! And how's this for a sock-knocker-off-er??? (Is that even a word?) I came up with what has turned out to be my VERY FIRST LAYOUT EVER!!! I am a cardmaker/3D item/home decor gal for the most part, and would love to start to delve into the layout aspect of the craft that I am soooo obsessed with!! I figured if I was going to submit to a challenge, I might as well really challenge myself!! hee hee!! A very good friend is having a baby girl in March, and her shower is coming up....so I may use this in a small scrapbook for her, or maybe keep it and scrap something from when MY baby girl was born 3 years ago!! Either way, for my first layout, I am pretty happy with the result!
Here She Is!!! ("recipe" to follow under the photos!)
My Recipe:
Stampin' UP! Cardstock (solid colors)
My Mind's Eye "Bliss" Cardstock Stack (pink and green patterned paper)
DCWV "Green Tea" Cardstock Stack (brown patterned paper)
Simply Charmed Cricut Cartridge (baby carriage, title, and bottles)
Storybook Cricut Cartridge (Scalloped Square frames)
White Gelly Roll Pen for doodling
Scrap Ribbon
Silver Brads for detail
Pink Adhesive Rhinestone from my stash for bling on the baby's bow
PopDots for added dimension under the carriage and bottles
Thanks for looking! And good luck to everyone (many, many talented people!!) on the DT call!! Fingers are Crossed!!!
